Happy New Year St George's church family and friends! I hope you have had a safe and happy (if quiet) start to the new year. I sit in front of my computer in my first week back after a week off, and am already looking at a growing 'to do' list, which could easily become overwhelming. It is very easy to simply jump back into my previous habits, work and life patterns. I'm not a fan of New Year's resolutions which simply become things for me to fail at (😕). But the new year naturally does bring an opportunity for reflection and re-evaluation. As an alternative to resolutions I've stolen the following idea from a friend...Rather than guilt-producing resolutions, why not consider trying one or more experiments which may benefit your spiritual/mental/physical health or the community/world around you? Consider the following questions:I wonder what might happen if...?How might it affect my family/world/community/environment if I...?What if I just tried....?The experiment may produce the result you expect, or entirely surprise you. It may not work in which can you can tweak it, change it or scrap it and try something else. Be free to do so! Try any experiment: Would I feel healthier if I ran once a week or walked everyday? What would happen if we ate a vegetarian meal once per week? What if I read one Bible verse/chapter per day? Would it take as much time as I think to wash and recycle my yoghurt pots? Feel free to create and share your own ideas for experiments. Go wild and have fun with it! Happy New Year!Kath(credit for the above goes to Alice Smith) ... See MoreSee Less
